Often we can be asked, “Who is CEYC?” At our 2017 Residential we came up with this answer:
What’s new?

So what are CEYC’s aims?
CEYC seeks to be a Christ centred community where differences, similarities and experiences are all met with Grace and Love. We are a community of unconditional welcome, generous hospitality and grace where we explore what it’s like to learn from scripture and live out our faith in our society.
actively represents the young people of the Church of England by:
- discussing and debating issues impacting on the youth of today
- engaging in dialogue with the Church of England and the wider community
CEYC has another important role; speaking to the wider church on behalf of the 16-25s who are part of our community. CEYC gathers the information, opinions, fears and joys that we experience and explore when we are together. We share and impart this with the Church of England on a National and Diocesan level. Likewise, CEYC seeks to build fruitful relationships with those of other denominations, faiths, and those of no faith, to share opinions, learn from common experiences and gain understanding.
CEYC has a core group who are responsible for the running and daily business of the council and exist to serve the wider members. This core group is a team who work hard to keep the vision and values at the heart of CEYC, demonstrating them to all they meet.
enriches its members by providing the opportunity to:
- participate fully within the CEYC community
- discern and develop their gifts and callings within the wider context of the church
- gain knowledge of the Church of England
- experience the differing traditions and views within it
CEYC seeks to be there for all 16-25s, those who wish to explore what their faith may look like in a wider setting, those who are exploring the structures of the Church of England and acknowledges that for some CEYC is the lifeboat, the port in the storm that keeps their faith alive during troubled times. We are a diverse Spirit filled community of faith, that seeks to serve each other wherever we are in our journey.
actively engages with young people by:
- debating issues affecting all young people
- encouraging and supporting young participation at all levels
- facilitating change and taking action where appropriate
- supporting them in their spiritual journey
- being biblically led, prayerfully led, and love centred
CEYC allows us all to stay connected to the differences in our church whilst creating a safe space to really see and experience the theological spectrum. We explore different ideas, theologies and practices and discuss and debate their relevance and impact on our lives and cultures. We listen and engage with all opinions and seek to see everyone as children of our Heavenly Father first and foremost.
In order for CEYC to live out this Vision Statement we aim to work closely with those within National Bodies and Dioceses who have a particular responsibility for championing youth.

Vision
CEYC aims to serve God by actively representing, enriching, and engaging with the young people of the Church of England. In July 2017 CEYC gathered together to piece together a new Vision Statement for CEYC. You can read it here.
