CEYC is transforming into a new being.
CEYC has been around for 15 years in its current format, but in actual fact, CEYC has been about since the 1930’s. Once again, to keep up with society and the church of England we are transforming into a new being. We don’t quite know what this will look like yet, but one things for sure: you can come with us too.
If you want to speak to one of us about any events, council meetings or anything else then you still can. We are still here and whist CEYC is transforming into a new being we will still be going to events and synod so email Josh at firstname.lastname@example.org
Here is the letter that we’ve sent out to DYO/A’s

we were Often asked, “Who is CEYC?” At our 2017 Residential we came up with this answer:
So what were CEYC’s aims?
CEYC looked to be a Christ centred community where differences, similarities and experiences were all met with Grace and Love. We were a community of unconditional welcome, generous hospitality and grace where we’d explore what it was like to learn from scripture and live out our faith in our society.
actively represented the young people of the Church of England by:
- discussing and debating issues impacting on the youth of today.
- engaging in dialogue with the Church of England and the wider community.
CEYC had another important role; speaking to the wider church on behalf of the 16-25s who were part of our community. CEYC gathered the information, opinions, fears and joys that were experience and explored when we were together. We shared and impart this with the Church of England on a National and Diocesan level. Likewise, CEYC looked to build fruitful relationships with those of other denominations, faiths, and those of no faith, to share opinions, learn from common experiences and gain understanding.
CEYC had a core group who were responsible for the running and daily business of the council and existed to serve the wider members. This core group was a team who work hard to keep the vision and values at the heart of CEYC, demonstrating them to all they meet.
enriched its members by providing the opportunity to:
- participate fully within the CEYC community.
- discern and develop their gifts and callings within the wider context of the church.
- gain knowledge of the Church of England.
- experience the differing traditions and views within it.
CEYC wanted to be there for all 16-25s, those who wish to explore what their faith may have look like in a wider setting, those who were exploring the structures of the Church of England and acknowledged that for some, CEYC was the lifeboat, the port in the storm that keeps their faith alive during troubled times. We were a diverse Spirit filled community of faith, that looked to serve each other wherever we were in our journey.
- debating issues affecting all young people.
- encouraged and supported young peoples participation at all levels.
- facilitated change and taking action when appropriate.
- supporting people in their spiritual journeys.
- being biblically led, prayerfully led, and love centred.
CEYC allowed us all to stay connected to the differences in our church whilst creating a safe space to really see and experience the theological spectrum. We explored different ideas, theologies and practices and discussed and debated their relevance and impact on our lives and cultures. We listened and engaged with all opinions and looked to see everyone as children of our Heavenly Father first and foremost.
In order for CEYC to live out this Vision Statement we aimed to work closely with those within National Bodies and Dioceses who have a particular responsibility for championing youth.

CEYC aimed to serve God by actively representing, enriching, and engaging with the young people of the Church of England. In July 2017 CEYC gathered together to piece together a new Vision Statement for CEYC. You can read it here.
