Action Groups
The role of Action Groups is to put the decisions and policies of CEYC into action! Thus, Action Groups are responsible for taking on the motions discussed in the debates and doing something about them. These 'actions' may take a variety of forms from letter writing to creating news sheets or organising events.
There are three permanent Action Groups within CEYC: Church Issues, Community Issues and World Issues. Every issue debated or discussed by CEYC will fit into one or more of these categories and thus be covered by at least one of the Action Groups.
All members of CEYC are expected to choose an Action Group which deals with issues important to them to join, and as far as possible to remain permanently with this Group. This makes it easier for the Groups to communicate and get things done. The level of commitment that Action Groups require will vary, although they will try to work in between as well as during full CEYC meetings. Within an action group you can decide how much you offer to do; we only ask that if you offer to do something you try to do it.
After a short initial meeting during the full CEYC meeting, Action Groups will be expected to communicate through email and by using the website forum, where there are separate forums set up for each Action Group. Some Action Groups may choose to meet between full meetings, others may not.
Each Action Group will be chaired by an elected member of CEYC, who will ideally not be a member of the Core Group or a Synod rep. However, there will be one member of the Core Group in each Action Group and they will be responsible for making sure any actions are approved by the Core Group before they are carried out (e.g. letters will be checked before they are posted). All actions being undertaken under CEYC must go through the Core Group first to ensure we are sticking to our aims and objectives at all times.
So have fun and take action!
