Introducing Bethan, our Intern!

November 15, 2016 by Core User

Hello!

I’m probably the world’s least natural blog writer… I’ve been told that I need to introduce myself to you and figured it’s probably easier if I pretend to interview myself so here goes!
bethan

Name?

Bethan

New role?

CEYC Intern

What will you be doing?

I’ll be in the intern position for 12 months, I’ve been promised that I’ll be involved in a whole myriad of things but for now I’ll be doing lots of admin-y type things helping to support the Core Group to make sure CEYC continues to be as amazing as it can be!

How did you get involved with CEYC?

I made the mistake of filling in a questionnaire for my DYO nine years ago now and he was looking for diocesan representatives so got in touch with me. I was too young at the time but as soon as I turned 16 the DYO signed me up! I was a diocesan rep for four and a half years and then was elected to Core Group for two years.

What did you do before?

Before I had a super crazy long bilingual job title but I was essentially a Children’s and Youth work leader at Bangor Cathedral and Chaplaincy Assistant for Bangor University in deepest darkest North Wales!

What are you looking forward to the most about your role?

I can’t wait to get stuck in. I think I’m looking forward the most to helping make sure that CEYC has all the tools it need to flourish so that reps can represent, enrich and engage!

What do you do when you’re not at work?

I always laugh when people ask me what I do in my spare time – I never seem to have any! I am a Scout Leader and have been involved with youth work in Churches for quite a long time now. I’ve just moved house so I’m hoping to find a new Scout group and when I get used to work I’ll hopefully get involved with the youth work at my Church.

I guess me-time I tend to fill with either reading, curling up on the sofa watching Netflix or outdoors. I love climbing and hillwalking and exploring new places!

Mountain Hideaway or Beach House?

Mountain hideout with a sea view? Is that allowed?

Scary movie or happy ending?

Happy ending – my attention span for TV and sitting still is probably about 90 minutes so I usually watch kids films! I love Studio Ghibli films.

So that’s me I guess? Some sensible some silly questions. I’m going to try and let you know what I get up to about once every half term by blogging (if anyone has any tips please shout!). If you want to get in touch or ask any questions please email me! My email is ceyc.intern@churchofengland.org . I can’t wait to meet some of you in November!
