Glossary
- CEYC
- the Church of England Youth Council.
- DYO or DYA
- Diocesan Youth Officer or Advisor – two different names for the same sort of job. The individual who has a responsibility to support work with young people and encourage youth participation in the diocese. Get in touch with yours!
- NYA
- National Youth Advisor, one of the people in charge of all DYOs and Church youth work across the country, forming a link between CEYC and the top-level of the Church of England.
- Observers
- People who attend meetings but don’t have the right to vote. At CEYC meetings, the NYAs and other more experienced people in the Church of England (people "born earlier") often attend as observers, as do representatives from the youth councils of other denominations. In debates, the chair may ask them to speak. Three CEYC members are observers on General Synod.
- Core Group
- the people who (try to!) organise CEYC. Young people like you who are elected by and from the body of CEYC reps.
- General Synod
- the Church of England's "parliament". All dioceses have one or more bishops, some clergy and some lay people representing them on Synod. CEYC has three observers elected to Synod, who can speak but not vote.
